David Musial And SkyRoom

A home studio in a skyscraper.
SkyRoom, Studio With A View
SkyRoom is a really cool little MIDI studio, perched at the top of a condominium building looking across and down the Hudson River at the Statue of Liberty, the World Trade Center, and the New York Harbor from Newport, New Jersey. In a lot of ways, it's the project studio we'd all like to have. Neat, tidy, well-equipped and finished, with a lot of careful attention to detail to make it productive, viable, and compatible with life in the Big Apple, which is no minor accomplishment.
What makes it really slick is the way owner David Musial has integrated it into apartment living and his personal life. When a top-floor duplex opened up in his building, he grabbed it. The lower floor (the 34th) is his apartment, and the upper, 35th, floor is the studio, complete with a separate client entrance. The boundaries of the studio are the outer building walls and roof and his apartment below. There are no neighbors to complain, at any hour of day or night. How can he afford this? Well, it's New Jersey. And Dave is doing a lot of interesting things, getting a lot of work.
