David,

I'm interested in purchasing one or more of the Recording Magazine's Playback Platinum series lectures on CD as discussed in John Marks' Stereophile article of May 2003. I can't seem to find a way to purchase them on your website or on Amazon. Please advise. Thanks and best regards,

John Vourtsis

Read about the Golden Ears series in Stereophile, am a dedicated music lover, have been in the business for 32 years, and am always looking for more knowledge to better serve my clientele.

Good article in TV Technology V21 #7, "The; Growing Gulf Between Hi-Res and Lo-Res Audio". I've had thoughts about this, too, pretty much along the same lines that you've expressed.

As a TV broadcast engineer, I need to know more about sound and it's components to make good choices in the studio when I have a choice. Even in something so mundane as a news set, there are physics and acoustics to consider and understand in order to make a good product. These articles I've downloaded deal in marginally relavent areas, but notibly so that I can use them and learn from them. Thanks for making this available to me and others for our continuing education.

My dad said "always; try to play with someone better than yourself". Thanks for the many wonderful insights. Now, about compressing all my music...

Dave-
First picked up on your obvious know-how from Recording mag articles, built my first studio around your reccomendations (thanks!!!)and, as your impeccable timing would have it, am in the middle of relocating to my rectangular basement...(my selfish 3year old apprently needs his own space... smile )

Dave... Your expertise in this industry is unparalleled! I often find myself wishing every technician in Hollywood knew as much as you did. It would certainly make my job easier! I think the biggest illusion I came out of school with was thinking all the "experts" in the industry knew as much as you... little did I know. Thank you for imparting some of your wisdom upon me all those years ago. It has helped me more than you can imagine.

Dave, thanks for puttin' dressing on the sound salad. You bring good things to life, dude. How long does a rest have to be before it's not music, especially if it's at the beginning of the tune? Don't answer that. It was great to see you at the tone party. Peace, john kerswell
